Information
"Activities of Dust 'A New Mind' is the result of hours of recorded feedback that had been collected from various mixing sessions over the past decade. Within are compositions, possibility waves, constructed, originally, from manipulation of these feedback signals. The initial impressions from Jeff Parker were then added to the recordings. Parker interpreted, reacted to and in some cases painted a definitive picture of latent melodies within the feedback structures. Combining and blending these two elements created a basic form for the introduction of keyboard, bass and drum elements to enhance the movements taking shape in the music. Bill Laswell and Bernie Worrell fleshed out the tracks." -Doug Scharin.
Musicians
Doug Scharin
is also running the HiM project inviting musicians to shape grooves and explore new soundscape with him. He is involved in Mice Parade with long time friend Adam Pierce, and used to play with Rex and June of 44.
Jeff Parker
plays guitar with Tortoise, Exploding Star Orchestra, Isotope217, New Horizons Ensemble, TriColor, Powerhouse Sound, Fred Anderson Quartet and does regular collaborations with many musicians from the Chicago scene.
Bill Laswell
is a known figure in music... Bassist, producer, remixer... He has participated to numerous project with many musicians around the world. One of his latest is Painkiller with John Zorn. He also remixed Bob Marley tapes in a dub way.
Bernie Worrell
is known for his work with Parliament-Funkadelic and Talking Heads. The keyboardist has recorded extensively with Bill Laswell on the last two decades, and has collobrated with numerous artists such as Gov't mule, David Byrne...
